Why we organize the fest in Stranda?
Stranda is the village in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is part of the Sunnmøre region. Stranda municipality consists of one larger central village — Stranda, and the smaller villages are known for tourist attractions as Hellesylt, Geiranger, and Liabygda.
The municipality of Stranda has a great variety of industry. In recent years, many companies, especially in the food industry, began to flourish. About 160 farms produce milk and meat products.
Many factories have long traditions for making meat products, especially salted and cured meat. On Stranda, mild and humid air from the fjord meets with the winds from Sunnmørsalpane. This created good conditions to get the real taste of cured meat, and already towards the end of the 19th century, craftsmanship production of cured meats was established.
Today, producers can boast modern climate rooms, where the fresh air enters, temperature and humidity are under control. However, the basis was laid by using first of all-natural conditions.
The whole day, 20th of June 2020, will be filled up with a good, rural meal, activities for the whole family, and many secrets to learn about the using of Stranda cured ham.
The organizers promise all tastings for free.
